The short version: we never ask who you are.
Puzzle Time is made to be a calm, safe place to play. There is nothing to sign up for, and we don't want your personal details.
What we don't do
- No accounts. You never make a login or give an email address.
- No ads. There are no advertisements and no ad networks.
- No ad tracking. Nothing here follows you around the internet or builds a profile to sell you things. We have switched off the advertising and cross-device features of the one measurement tool we use.
- No selling data. We do not sell or share anything about you.
The one thing we do measure
We use Google Analytics to count how many people visit and which puzzles get played. It helps us decide what to build next. It tells us things like “forty people played a crossword today” — never who those people are.
To do that it stores a small cookie in your browser with a random number in it, and works out your rough location from your internet connection — the country or region, never your address. We have turned off its advertising and cross-device tracking features.
We never send it your name, email address or anything that identifies you personally, because we never collect those in the first place. If you would rather not be counted at all, any browser setting or extension that blocks analytics cookies will work, and Google offers an opt-out add-on. The games work exactly the same either way.
What stays on your device
A few small things are saved only in your own browser so the app remembers your preferences — for example your text-size and evening-mode choices, and the name you type on the Scoreboard. This never leaves your device and we can't see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Playing together
If you use Play Together to share a puzzle with family, the puzzle pieces and letters you place are relayed through our server just long enough to keep everyone's board in sync. Nothing is stored after the room closes, and no names or personal details are required to use it.
Children
Puzzle Time is friendly for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — there is no sign-up, no contact details are ever requested, and the visit counting described above is anonymous and aggregated, never used to build a profile of any individual.
